About this scholarship
The Australian National University (ANU) may offer a number of awards known as the ANU Vice-Chancellor Scholars Program.
The objective of the Award is to improve access, participation, retention and successful completion for students from under-represented backgrounds by reducing financial barriers to studying at ANU. The Award aims to support students experiencing educational disadvantage and to promote a diverse and inclusive student cohort.
Funding for this Award is provided by the University and through the generous gifts of donors.

Up to four years for undergraduate recipients eligible for scholarship benefits and/or accommodation support. Relocation and commencement support will be paid as a one-off instalment as specified in the offer letter.

The Award is available to a commencing ANU student who:
- is a domestic student;
- receives an offer of admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University; and
- based on evidence provided in their application for admission to the University has been assessed as meeting one or more equity criteria determined by the University for the purposes of this Award.
How to apply
There is no separate application for this scholarship all eligible applicants that receive an offer of admission to an ANU Program will be automatically considered if they submit their ANU application by the relevant Deadline (see below).
Domestic Undergraduate Applications:
ASA - Early Offer Application
Early Offer Applications for 2027 have now closed. All eligible applicants that opted in for scholarship consideration will be assessed.
You are eligible to apply directly to ANU if:
- You are an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia (including a holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa).
- You have completed Australian Year 11 studies or the IB program for Year 11
- You will complete Australian Year 12 studies with an ATAR or an IB Diploma in November 2026
UAC applications
If you are a student finishing Year 12 this year and did not apply directly to ANU, or you are non-school leaver, you can apply through the University Admissions Centre (UAC).
To be considered for this scholarship you need to apply and receive an offer of admission by January Round 1.
January Round 1 application deadline - apply and pay by 10 December 2026 11.59pm.

No application is required for this scholarship as all eligible candidates will be considered.
Additional information
Each Award will be tailored to the needs and circumstances of the recipient, with consideration given to any other scholarship or financial award for which the student is eligible. The type and value of support offered will be specified in the letter of offer and may vary between recipients.
Unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer, the Award may include but is not limited to:
- a scholarship benefit;
- accommodation support;
- relocation and commencement assistance;
- other support approved by the University that is consistent with the objectives of the Award; or
- a combination of the above.
The type, duration and value of support offered may differ between recipients.
The Award provides support for up to four years for undergraduate recipients eligible for scholarship benefits and/or accommodation support. Where an undergraduate recipient is enrolled in a degree with a duration of more than four years, an extension beyond the standard four-year period may be approved, subject to available funding and University approval.
Payment arrangements may include:
- recurring scholarship payments made at the beginning of each semester;
- accommodation support paid directly to the ANU hall or residence in equal instalments at the beginning of each semester;
- relocation and commencement assistance paid as a one-off instalment, following enrolment or directly towards approved travel and relocation expenses; and
- one-off bursary payments for postgraduate students paid following the census date of the relevant study period.
Recipients should note that:
- all tuition fees must be paid by the prescribed University due dates; and
- all costs associated with books, study materials, accommodation and other study-related expenses remain the responsibility of the student unless otherwise specified in the letter of offer.

Selection
Only applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria will be considered. Selection is made based on demonstrated educational disadvantage, informed by the University's Educational Access Scheme (EAS) assessment framework and is aligned with the University's objective of supporting access, participation and success for students from under-represented backgrounds.
The University may consider equity factors and the overall impact of disadvantage when assessing applicants.
