Every ANU program has minimum admissions requirements that you need to meet or exceed to be considered for that program. Adjustment factors can contribute to your ANU selection rank, which will be used when assessing your eligibility for a program at ANU. Note that all applications to ANU are on a competitive basis, and meeting the minimum admissions requirements does not guarantee entry to the program.
Applicants can be considered for adjustment factors through the following schemes:
For applicants who have encountered circumstances outside of their control that may have had a negative impact on their secondary school results during Year 11 and Year 12.
For applicants identified as belonging to a group that may be eligible for additional support to help achieve a more balanced student cohort at ANU.
This scheme also includes portfolio-based adjustment factors for selected programs. Click to learn more about this.
For applicants who are registered with a National Sporting Organisation as recognised by the Australian Sports commission, have competed in a sport at a state, national, or international level, and that their participation has impacted their secondary study.
For applicants who have achieved high results in particular secondary school subjects.
For applicants who have completed the Australian Music Examinations Board Grade 8 qualification (discontinued for 2027 commencement onwards).
If you are applying directly to ANU through the Early Offer Application, you can manage your adjustment factors within your application.
You will automatically be assessed for Subject Adjustments once you complete Year 12. If eligible, you will also automatically be assessed for the Diversity Scheme. However, portfolio-based adjustment factors require you to submit the required documentation.
If you are applying to ANU through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC):
Please review the requirements for each adjustment scheme carefully.
These programs may only receive a maximum of 5 adjustment factors overall, and only from the Education Access Scheme and the Diversity Scheme.
