Overview
B&G is a multicultural Hall, with people from all over Australia and all over the world, studying different degrees and at various stages of their studies. The cultural diversity of B&G allows its residents to experience deep and meaningful relationships. We have a focus on the arts, sports, academic and positive community spirit.
B&G is a place where you can learn to be your authentic self and you will be respected and valued for the person you are. People who are keen to be the best versions of themselves, be respectful and appreciative of difference, be a positive contributor to the local and larger community and treat every person at the college with the dignity they deserve will find a home at B&G.
B&G has 512 single rooms and several larger rooms accessible to returning students.
- Initially, Burton & Garran Hall were separate residences
- Both established since 1965, combined in 1983
- Burton Hall was named after Professor Herbert 'Joe' Burton CBE (1900-1983)
- Garran Hall was named after Sir Robert Randolph Garran (1867-1957)

Accessibility
Burton & Garran Hall residential accommodation is not well suited to mobility requirements to date. Whilst the team are doing our best to make meaningful changes, it should be noted all residential rooms are currently accessed via flights of stairs and the property does not have the inclusion of lifts. Our hall has designated shared quiet spaces, including a library, and clear signage explaining the intended use of shared spaces. There is a regular quiet hour in the shared kitchen space.
