Overview
Since 1971, Burgmann College has grown and flourished as a vibrant college with a strong pastoral care focus. Often described by its residents as a ‘home away from home’, Burgmann is more than a room or apartment.
Burgmann is an independent community with an inclusive environment, home to 378 students of the ANU. The College has a strong reputation of encouraging residents to explore opportunities whilst supporting and celebrating their achievements.
Our community engenders a simple purpose: that everyone achieves their highest potential, academically and personally. Every member of our community has the right to ask for assistance and support, and in turn, everyone is expected to contribute to the community and their fellow residents. There are ample sporting, arts and social opportunities to get involved in, and more importantly, residents have a significant say in the running of the College.
Burgmann is unique, having the Principal, Deputy and Dean living onsite, sharing their families and their homes with the community. Staff are committed to ensuring residents feel safe, respected, and included.
Burgmann College is situated on the ANU campus, with leafy park like surroundings and courtyards only a short stroll from Canberra’s city centre.
